April Offshore Trip- Perfect weather

Offshore Fishing trip 21st April, 2007- What a day. It was a perfect day on the water after all the shittie weather we have had of late. We headed out from Moolalabah out to our favourite spot. At the boat ramp a bloke looking quite weary said that he had been at the 12 mile and bagged out on snapper. We thought we might try that area later on in the day. It was a toss up on whether to go to Barwon Banks or our favourite spot. The favourite won. I have never seen so many boats out on one day. On the way we stopped and fished a couple of reefy areas we stumbled across. They produced a couple of only, average sized wrass and tuskfish. We wanted a little bigger than that so off we went on to our magic spot. Finally we got there and as usual it didn't let us down. We started our drift and the fish were on. Lots of double hookups which made it considerably heavier to pull up our catches Our catch in the end consisted of wrasse good size, a beautiful cod that hubby caught, and pearly's. Where the hell was the snapper. Shit its hard pulling those fish up out of 100m deep water. As we were fishing we looked out to see a water spout. It looked like a mini tornado. What a fantastic phenonomen they are. A tube reaching from the heavens down to the earth, sucking sea water through a spout up to the sky's. I must search google on them. Okay now to go to the 12 mile to see if there were any snapper left for us. Nope not today. All up it was a fantastic day on the water and I wished every weekend's weather was the same. Hope next weekend is the same..... We ended up bagging out on wrasse, and pearly's. Not a bad day of fishing at all. Friends that went out caught cobia and snapper on the same day. When we got back to the boat ramp a bloke was cleaning a huge spanish mackeral. I couldn't even look at it. Oh how I wished. On the way back we trolled the last 3 miles and caught a tuna. Well until next fishing trip, happy fishing to all.
